Hear to Help Kent State
Hear to Help is an initiative at Kent State University that identifies students, faculty, and staff who have completed one or more of the mental health awareness trainings offered through the Division of Mental Health and Substance Use.
Modeled after the Allies/Safe Space program that identifies individuals who are open to talking about and who are supportive of LGBTQ+ individuals and identities, individuals displaying the Hear to Help logo have a deeper understanding of mental health and substance use and can help connect individuals with services, if necessary. Completing one or more of the mental health awareness trainings does not obligate individuals to participate in the Hear to Help initiative.
STEP 1: TAKE A TRAINING
A.I.D. Training: 60-minute in-person or virtual training for KSU students, faculty, staff, and families
Kognito: 20-45-minute virtual, self-paced training for KSU students, faculty, and staff
Mental Health First Aid: 8-hour in-person training for KSU students, faculty, and staff
QPR Training: 60-minute virtual, self-guided training for KSU students, faculty, staff, and families
V-A-R Training: 30-minute virtual, training for KSU students
STEP 2: DISPLAY YOUR HEAR TO HELP GRAPHIC
Free Hear to Help items are available to the Kent State community that complete a mental health awareness training. This was handed out at the in-person training (sticker, window cling, desk plaque, magnet, or button). If you participated in an online training, use the request button.
STEP 3: PROMOTE YOUR INVOLVEMENT IN HEAR TO HELP
If you are interested in letting individuals know that you are Hear to Help, a description has been put together for you to include in your syllabus or Blackboard Learn classroom. The email signature can be added to your automatic email signature and the poster can be printed and hung up.
