Meet Anya Galperin, a 2023-2024 Graduate Dean's Award recipient. Anya is a masters student majoring in Philosophy.
Please give a short overview of your research.
I am planning to address questions of Philosophy of Religion through the Phenomenological tradition, and using that as the basis for comparative analysis of Western and Eastern religious thought. I am relatedly interested in the capacity of language to articulate universal and particular truths.
What made you choose to pursue your graduate degree here at Kent State?
The faculty in the philosophy department; the program awarded me a GA position which provides funding for the two years and they have a strong track record for placing students in PhD programs.
What do you enjoy most about attending Kent State for graduate school? and/or What do you anticipate taking advantage of at KSU?

What are your future goals?
I hope to pursue an academic career. I'm interested in exploring questions in my field through professional philosophy.
What does this award mean to you and how will it aid you?
This award gives me the opportunity to focus on my work in the program without taking on any secondary part-time employment. I'm very grateful for the additional funds as it alleviates the financial burden, especially since I had to move from NYC to attend without any relatives/local assistance.
