The new school year is just around the corner. As we prepare ourselves and our children for the upcoming school year, we know there are proactive measures we can take to get everyone off to a positive start. For instance, start the process of getting into a normal routine with bedtime and eating schedules. Looking ahead, what might you anticipate with homework and extracurricular activities and how much time needs to be set aside for these priorities?
More importantly, how are we incorporating input from our children to problem-solve these issues and practice their independent thinking skills, given their ages and ability levels. This brings us to the topic of a very timely lunch and learn on raising independent children.
Educators say that they have seen a steady decline in basic independent skills and problem-solving. As parents, we want to teach our children so that they feel empowered to fix their individual problems and manage their lives. How best can we do this?
