As a wrestler for Kent State University, Lane Hinkle knows how important hard work and a positive attitude is to success as a student and as an athlete. A sophomore majoring in Health and Physical Education, Lane’s dream is to teach at the high school level and to coach wrestling. It’s a dream he might have had to forego if not for the important financial support he has received from the Bruno G. Santone Wrestling Scholarship Endowment.
“I am so grateful and appreciative of my scholarship,” says Lane. “I have to take out loans to make up any costs that aren’t covered by scholarships, so it means a lot to me. I wish I could thank Mr. Santone in person, to tell him how much it means to me.”
The late Bruno Santone was a big fan of Kent State’s wrestling program, and a very generous planned gift that established an endowed scholarship in his name will help many generations of student-athletes fulfill their dreams in the years to come.
In addition to a grateful heart, Lane has also learned how important it is to give back.
“Giving back is just a great thing to do," Lane says. "It helps the next generation to have opportunities to grow and to be successful. That’s an awesome thing.”
