Quick Tip: Get alerts for broken links in your Canvas courses

POSTED: Nov. 05, 2024

Did you know that Canvas can alert you when a student clicks on a broken link in your course?  These notifications can help you catch and fix broken links quickly.

The Canvas email notification will include 1) the course name, 2) the broken link, 3) the location of the broken link in the course, and 4) in what way the link is broken so that you know how to fix it.

Types of broken links that Canvas can detect:

  • Incorrect URL
  • Link to unpublished content
  • Link to content in a different course

How to enable content link error notifications:

  1. In Canvas, click on the Account icon in the global navigation menu on the left.
  2. In the panel that pops out, click on the Notifications link.
