Laptop Requirements for Students
CPM requires students purchase and have a laptop as part of the College's educational experience that is newly manufactured within two years of your start date of the degree program. The minimum requirements for laptops for CPM students are listed below, but more than this is strongly recommended.
All laptops regardless of device type must include webcam and microphone for use with, our testing platform, tablet devices running Android or iOS are not permitted. Chromebooks are also not permitted at this time.
An external storage device to back up your files is recommended. Kent provides a Google Drive and OneDrive account for registered students that can help with this.
Windows
- Operating System: Windows 10 or 11, genuine, U.S. English versions.
- Server versions of OS are not supported.
- CPU Processor: Intel i5 processor or higher (or equivalent)
- RAM: 8Gb minimum, 16Gb recommended.
- Hard Drive: 25Gb of available space. Minimum 256Gb recommended.
- A working USB port is required (Newer devices may require an adaptor)
- Must be Wi-Fi capable.
- Virtualization is not supported.
- Administrator level account permissions. Guest accounts do not work with our test taking software.
Mac
- Operating System: genuine U.S. English versions of MacOS are supported.
- Server versions of OS are not supported.
- CPU Processor: Intel i5 or Apple M1 processor or higher
- RAM: 8Gb minimum, 16Gb recommended.
- Hard Drive: 25Gb available space. Minimum 256Gb recommended.
- A working USB port is required (Newer devices may require an adaptor).
- Must be Wi-Fi capable.
- Virtual machines such as Parallels, VMware, or any other virtual environments is not supported.
- Administrator level account permissions. Guest accounts do not work with our test taking software.
