10-Day Writing Sprint
10-Day Writing Sprint
Our 10-Day Writing Sprint will breathe new life into your writing.
Write wherever and whenever you want. We suggest you take the weekends off, but if you want your 10 days to include weekends over the two weeks, you do you!
“Writing” refers to any scholarly activity ranging from sparking of a new idea to polishing a near-complete project (article, grant proposal, exhibit, book chapter, etc.).
Event Goals:
The 10-Day Writing Sprint is designed to help faculty jumpstart their writing productivity by fostering consistency, focus, and momentum. Through structured daily writing sessions, goal-setting, and accountability, participants will make measurable progress on their writing projects—whether it’s a manuscript, grant proposal, article, or other scholarly work. This sprint aims to build sustainable writing habits, reduce procrastination, overcome perfectionism, and create a supportive community of scholars committed to advancing their academic writing. This sprint is for new and seasoned writers.
The sprint is simple, you commit to:
- Write for at least 30 minutes a day for 10 days (over a period of 2 weeks). You can choose to write whenever it works best for you. We have the assignments/announcements set up for M-F but feel free to use the weekends as you like.
- Join an online community of writers from across Kent State to support each other and provide accountability
- Login to the Canvas Course, start the timer and complete your writing
- Post your progress on the daily discussion board
- How many minutes you wrote
- If you met your goals from the day before... if not, why not
- Your goals for your next 30 minutes
- Take a minute or two to support other writers by commenting on their progress in the discussion board; encouragement, congratulations, suggestions, etc.
