Careers in Public Health
The College of Public Health at Kent State University prepares students for careers in some of today's most exciting health fields: emergency management, disease investigation, health services administration, occupational health and safety, environmental risk assessment, global health, and many others. We offer academic programs that provide a "Pathway to a Public Health Career" for students at all stages of their careers from entry and mid-level to senior management or advanced researcher.
Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH)
For students just beginning their careers, we offer the Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH) in six concentration areas and .
Undergraduate Certificate
The 18-credit hour undergraduate certificate in Public Health is intended for non-public health majors and anyone interested in obtaining knowledge about public health concepts to enhance their ability to succeed in their chosen field.
Undergraduate Minors
The College of Public Health currently offers five minors including, Public Health, Health Services Administration, Health Technology and Informatics and Environmental Health Sciences for Natural Science Majors and Non-Natural Science Majors. Courses are available both online and on-campus.
Master of Public Health (MPH)
For students who have completed their undergraduate degree and want to prepare for or advance their career, we offer the Master of Public Health (MPH) in two specializations (Health Policy and Management, Social and Behavioral Sciences), the MPH in Biostatistics, and the MPH in Epidemiology with and programs available.
Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology (MS)
Students interested in a career in clinical research should consider the Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology (MS). This 36-credit hour degree is offered either , in-class, or a hybrid format. Students will learn advanced methods of study designs and be able to apply good clinical practices, clinical trials design, management, statistical analysis, study monitoring, pharmaceutical research and regulations related to clinical research.
Graduate Certificates
For those wishing to advance their career with a graduate certificate, the College offers several programs including LGBTQ+ Public Health, Clinical Research, Healthcare Compliance, Addictions Counseling, and Health Systems and Facilities Design.
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
For advanced students wanting to gain specialized research skills, we offer the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in three specializations.
Study Abroad
Students can also experience public health globally in Florence, Italy, and other international locations. You can learn from experts around from the world and experience firsthand how public health is making a difference in the world.
Faculty
Our faculty have trained at some of the best universities in the U.S. and bring years of experience with them to the classroom and laboratory. They welcome students to work alongside them on cutting-edge research projects in areas such as substance abuse prevention, environmental disease agents, health literacy and health systems change, violence prevention, injury prevention and sports injuries, chronic disease prevention, and a variety of other exciting research topics.

OFFICE OF PUBLIC HEALTH PRACTICE AND PARTNERSHIPS
The Office of Public Health Practice & Partnerships (OPHPP) is the administrative unit within the College of Public Health that conducts workforce development programs, coordinates experiential learning components of the academic curriculum, provides career services to students, and incubates college-level initiatives
