Kent State Recognizes Alumni During Homecoming Weekend

Kent State University recognizes alumni who, through leadership, character and hard work, are making a difference. During Homecoming Weekend, 10 Golden Flashes were presented with Alumni Awards, and nine alumni received Lifetime Achievement recognitions from the university’s Black Alumni Chapter.

“For students especially, this is our future. This is about your individual rights as a person, and it's incredibly important because this is the future that we have for Ohio,” said Sam Zern, a graduate student in Kent State University’s College of Public Health and regional field organizer for Ohioans United for Reproductive Rights. Zern is working to help others see what she believes is the Issue 1's value.

The Secrets That 180,000 Years of Arctic Sediment Can Reveal

The Arctic region is particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change, with melting ice sheets having far-reaching consequences. Allyson Tessin, Ph.D., assistant professor in Kent State University’s Department of Earth Sciences, is conducting a study that seeks to shed light on the complex interactions between ice sheets, oceanic ecosystems and global climate patterns.
